Innovation is a term often thrown into conversations about wireless technology. Its definition can vary from person to person but most of the time it relates to how standards and technologies are implemented by operators and used by consumers. Innovation also pertains to test solutions that ensure the proper implementation of new technologies by operators so consumers enjoy high-bandwidth services that a few years ago seemed unattainable.
A good example of how innovation is used to push test solutions ahead is software such as SkyBridge Tools™, a cloud-based trace management tool designed to simplify the lives of everyone involved in tower or DAS testing by improving the way results are communicated, validated, and delivered. In fact, it is so pioneering that Anritsu has received a 2015 CXO NEXT Innovation Award from Microsoft Corp. for SkyBridge Tools.
Anritsu received the award during the CXO NEXT Summit in Redmond, Washington. SkyBridge Tools was placed in the Reinventing Productivity and Business Processes category. The awards were created to recognize visionary leaders who led transformational innovation using Microsoft solutions to realize the benefits — reinventing productivity and business processes, building an intelligent cloud platform, creating more personal computing, and empowering finance and marketing.
“In this ever-shifting, mobile-first, cloud-first world, organizations must constantly evaluate how they operate, empowering employees to innovate and move the business forward,” said Ron Markezich, Corporate Vice President, U.S. Enterprise & Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. “The winners of this year’s CXO NEXT Innovation Awards met this challenge with enthusiasm, using technology to improve operations and better connect with their customers.”
Anritsu’s SkyBridge Tools is a Microsoft Azure cloud-based data manager for 4G fiber, cable, and antenna installations focused on C-RAN and DAS systems that addresses three key issues. It has unprecedented cloud-based data mobility that eliminates the need to move large amounts of data over ad-hoc data transfer systems. Secondly, it provides processing and pass/fail/present/absent judgements of deliverables, such as measurements, photos, and documents, so field personnel know at upload time which measurements pass and how many documents are missing. This allows any needed corrective action to be taken before they leave the site. Finally, SkyBridge Tools is user-configurable from a web- or CSV-based interface, providing the flexibility a job judgement tool needs in today’s fast-paced environment.
Gerald Ostheimer, CEO Network and Infrastructure Business Enablement Business Unit, Anritsu Company, commented on earning the distinction. “By delivering global network monitoring systems that collate data from all network nodes to a common cloud location, global data analysis becomes possible. This reveals unparalleled amounts of information on network performance and efficiently guides the user to potential optimization paths. Microsoft Azure is the trusted platform that allows SkyBridge Tools to make our customers, and Anritsu, more successful,” he said.
